Ms. Becca

Hello, first grade families!
I am thrilled to be learning from and working with you and your children this school year in Ms. Heidi’s classroom. Some of you may recognize me, as I have worked at Lincoln in a paraprofessional role for the last year and a half, but this year I will be returning as a student teacher. I am a Master’s student at Metropolitan State University of Denver and will be completing my coursework and teacher licensure as of December 2015. I feel very lucky that I will be spending my last semester of my program with your first grade kiddos. First grade is such an important year. It’s a year in which reading takes high precedent. As someone who not only loves to read but loves to teach reading, I cannot wait to work with the children and watch them progress throughout the year. I hope to grow and learn beside them in the next few months as they help me become a strong and successful educator.
Outside of school, I try my best to enjoy all of what Colorado has to offer, whether it be the beautiful landscape through hiking and snowboarding, or the delicious food around Denver. I would definitely describe myself as an active person, always looking for something new and fun to do. My family and friends are another important aspect of my life. Although most of my family resides in New York, where I grew up, I keep in touch with them often and maintain strong relationships. We are always able to bond over our love for the New York Yankees. I live here in Denver with my husband, Ryan. We just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary on August 16, 2015! I moved to Colorado about five years ago, after graduating from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia with my Bachelors, to join Ryan as he completed his engineering degree at the Colorado School of Mines. Since moving to Denver, it’s been hard to imagine ever leaving!

Again, I look forward to spending time with and learning from you and your children. Thank you so much for welcoming me into Lincoln’s community.
